Kim Manufacturing Co., Inc. was started in 1954 as a manufacturer of agricultural field sprayers and post hole diggers by Orville Kimsey. The company sold Farm equipment throughout the Midwest through a series of distributorships.
In the early 1960's, a new industry of car washing was starting. Kim was already involved in pumps, motors, spraying equipment, and metal fabrication, so it expanded into this new area. Tim Kimsey, fresh out of college, went to work with his father to help design equipment and accessories for this new division.
Orville Kimsey retired in 1977, leaving Tim and his new wife, Linda, to purchase the business. The car wash division, Kim Supply, Inc. was split from the agricultural division in the 1980's. Kim Manufacturing produced the farm equipment while Kim Supply handled the car wash products. After the agricultural industry in the U.S. went through a major depression later in the 80's, the decision was made to devote efforts to the car wash and pressure washing industries, and Kim Manufacturing was closed.
Tim and Linda Kimsey ran Kim Supply up until 2009, when the business was sold to Amnis LLC, principals Kevin Zagortz and Kyle VanGoethem. Amnis LLC has continued to operate under the name Kim Supply, as a testament to the strong brand recognition throughout the car wash industry.
While we still operate out of the warehouse on 1407 Kansas Ave, Amnis has devoted tremendous resources in upgrading Kim Supply's computer, phone and web systems, hoping to effectively combine Kim Supply's history of professionalism and customer service with 21st century technology.
